Dorados Rockabilly Trio
The Dorados Rockabilly Trio is a rockabilly band hailing from Medellin, Colombia. Like many rockabilly bands, the Dorados’ (Spanish for gold) main influences are from American rock-n-roll from the 1950′s. They include artists like Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent and Elvis Presley. The band members also cite modern day punk and punkabilly bands like Social Distortion’s lead singer and punkabilly icon Mike Ness as a major influence as well.
While rockabilly is just beginning to emerge in Colombia, the Dorados Rockabilly Trio is doing their part to share their love of the music and culture with their fellow Paisas (people hailing from Medellin). Playing local gigs like motorcycle shows, tattoo conventions and more, these guys are slowly but surely sharing the joys of rockabilly to a growing and receptive audience all over Colombia.
Conflicto de Espacio Blanco (White Space Conflict) is the band’s first CD Release and features 6 raucous and original rockabilly tunes in Spanish and English, including an ode to pin up queen, Bettie Page. From the sound of things, we expect to be hearing more about the rockabilly scene in Colombia and more from Dorados Rockabilly Trio soon.
